Joyce Kuhn Becker graduated from
St. Ursula School in 1967. She
attended Parkville High School. She
received her Bachelor of Arts at the
College of Notre Dame of Maryland in
1978. She received her Juris Doctorate
at the University of Maryland School
of Law in 1982. Joyce worked for
several law firms before accepting a
job at Villa Julie College where she
is the Chair of the Paralegal
Department and is Associate Dean for
Assessment and Institutional Research.
Her academic achievements are
impressive but her commitment to the
St. Ursula Community is even more
impressive. Joyce served as
Vice-President of St. Ursula School
Board from 1993-1996; President of the
School Board from 1996-1999; Chair of
the Development and Alumni Committee
of the School Board from 1999-2004;
and Treasurer of Archbishop Curley
High School C Notes from 2003 - 2005.
In addition to these official
positions, she has taught CCD and
volunteered as parent helper in her
children's classrooms when they
attended St. Ursula School. Rick and
Joyce have a 20-year-old daughter and
a 17-year-old son. With her position
at Villa Julie College she encourages
her students to become involved with
the community and to give their
services to those most in need. Joyce
received The Kelly Memorial Award in
1998 for her work with St. Ursula
School. In 2000, she received the
Volunteer of the Year Award from the
Baltimore Archdiocese Office of Young
Adult and Youth Ministry for her work
with the youth. In 2004 Joyce was
honored as one of Maryland's Top 100
Women. |
