  • Flyers & Info for Week of 9/18 (9/20/2017)

    Just a reminder that tomorrow (September 21) is Individual Picture Day.  Students in grades K-8 should wear their regular school uniform not their gym uniform.  If your child has gym they may wear tennis shoes.

    Students in grade 8 will be bringing home the High School Guide.  This guide includes important information about the Catholic high school admission process.

    Looking for all the St. Ursula moms, grandmothers, and aunts to join us for an evening of fun on Tuesday, September 26 @ 6:45 in the school gym!  Our first Mothers’ Club meeting of the year will have food, beverages, a door prize and plenty of socializing with great friends and hopefully lots of new faces! Please RSVP to so we may properly prepare! Hope to see you there!

    We are in need of people to help count Hot Lunch tomorrow at 8:30.  If you have any spare time and have completed Shield the Vulnearble we would love your help.

    1.  If your child is interested in joing the Yearbook Committee and is in grades 7-8  please see the attached flyer.

    2.  On Monday, October 9th the Basilica will host a special Mass for Children to pray for peace.  It is the hope of the  Archdiocese that the church will be filled with children and families from all over.  The are asking if your child would like to participate in the mass to please see the flyer for details and information on how to sign-up.

    3.  If you shop at Giant, please see the flyer on how to register so that we can earn cash from A+ School Rewards.  If you have already registered last year you do not need to re-register this year.

  • Dismissal Expectations (9/15/2017)

    For unknown reasons, this year’s dismissal has been fraught with safety concerns.  We are asking all parents to reread the section on dismissal on page 15 of the handbook. If another family member or friend is the designated pick-up person, please make sure they read this section, too.  We also ask that no matter what line you are in, please pull up as close to and next to the cars around you so all can fit on the lots. We have 30 more students than last year so that impacts dismissal procedures.

    Other concerns include those who repeatedly park on Manns Ave.  This is not allowed!  We have stated this at Back to School Nights. Please be considerate of the neighbors and put yourself in their position.  If your child is to be dismissed to the Church Lot do not come down to school to escort them unless the child is in preschool.  The teachers will make sure the students cross and arrive at the Church Lot in an orderly and safe manner. When other adults are there the sidewalks become crowded and a very serious incident could occur.  Finally, please adhere to what the teachers tell you.  They know the flow of the traffic and when it is safe to cross, etc.  Modeling respect is such a great teaching moment for your child.

    If all of us can remember the safety of our students is primary and time is not a factor, we will be able to have a smooth and safe dismissal.

    1.  Middle School Teens (Catholic or not, from St. Ursula or not) – join us for our Middle School Youth Ministry Kick-Off this Friday, September 15th from 6-8pm in the Spiritual Center! We can’t give away too many secrets, but our “Glow-lympics” will definitely feature lots of glow sticks, prizes, and loads of fun! All participants must have a signed medical waiver turned in at the time of the event (attached here). Have questions?     2.  The St Ursula School Fathers’ Club is doing the Chick-fil-A calendar fundraiser again this year. The calendars are $8 each. They make a great gift around the holidays.     3.  The attached flyer provides details for the St. Ursula Fathers’ Club Fruit Sale fundraiser.  Below is also a link to order directly from the website and has a list of all the items available for sale.  Fruit fundraiser brochures are also coming home today through school and orders can be made via check as well.  Those details will be on the brochure.  All orders are due by October 27, 2017.  The fruit will be delivered to St. Ursula School on December 10, 2017 or you have the option to ship the fruit directly to you if you order online.  Makes a great holiday gift for anyone on your list!  As always, thank you for your support – Saint Ursula Fathers’ Club.

  • Back to School Nights (9/6/2017)

    Just a reminder that Back to School Night for grades 5-8 is tonight,  September 6, at 7:00 p.m.  Grades PK to 4 will take place on Thursday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m.  Both will take place in the school auditorium.  Due to the limited seating and the nature of the event, we would ask that adults only attend.

  • Back to School Information & Cheerleading (9/1/2017)
    Welcome back to a new school year!
    1. This week’s second collection in all Archdiocesan Catholic churches will be given to Catholic Charities in support of the citizens in Houston and other areas affected by the hurricane and flood.
    2. We continue to encourage all families to attend Mass or the church of their choice every weekend.
    3. The school has a number of student desks available to families who may want one. Please contact to set up pick-up details.
    4. The first day of school is Tuesday!  All students will enter the school and line up in the gym on Tuesday only. We remind parents not to drop off students any day until after 7:45.
    5. A reminder that all students are expected to be in their classrooms by 8:10, not entering the school then.
    6. Dismissal Tuesday and Wednesday is at 12:10.  Full day dismissal starts at 2:50.
    This year, sign ups for the Cheerleading squad will be online, starting Thursday, 8/31.  Please click on this link to read more information about the cheer squad, practices, games, etc.  To sign up your child, please choose the appropriate grade level squad and enter their information. In order to secure your child’s spot on the squad, please send in $35 (cash or check made payable to St. Ursula School) and the signed waiver (attached to this email) to the attention of Mrs. Zimmerman by Thursday, 9/7.  Practices will start Wednesday, 9/13 after school for grades 1-3 and Thursday, 9/14 after school for grades 4-8.

    Students can wear their gym uniforms on Friday.  Just a reminder, both today and Friday will be a 12:10 dismissal.

    Iowa assessment parent reports are included with the end of year progress reports which will be sent home on Friday.  Eighth grade reports may be picked up in the office this summer.  Summer office hours are MondayThursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    Below is The Husky Howler.  This is the school newspaper prepared by students who participated in the Newspaper Club.  Please take a moment to read.  They did a great job!

    Please remember to send in your Lucky 1500 tickets.  The early bird drawing is on June 18th.

    The Fathers’ Club last meeting of the 2016-17 school year will be held this Sunday, June 11 starting at 5:30pm. We are having our club meeting at Pine Ridge Swim Club. We will recap the golf tournament and tuition raffle along with our schedule for the 2017-18 school year. Corn hole, basketball, and softball will be some of the games going on after the meeting. Dinner and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there on Sunday!

    The drawing for the tuition raffle was held on Monday, June 5th.  Ticket 331 was the winner.  We had two top selling students.  They are A. Rossbach and A. D’Alonzo.  6th grade received lunch for being the top selling grade.  Thank you to all who participated – The Fathers’ Club.
