Kindergarten Teacher B.S., Education, Towson University Currently working on Masters in Special Education, Notre Dame of Maryland Teaching at St. Ursula School since 2016 I am so blessed to be a part of the St. Ursula family. After graduation, I taught for two years in New Zealand. I have been teaching Kindergarten in the Archdiocese of Washington for the last four years. I am excited to be a part of the Kindergarten team at SUS. I have a passion for teaching and inspiring children to be confident, eager, life-long learners, that always do their best.     2.      Race for Education – Don’t forget to return your request form for how many letters you need for Race for Education.  The form can be found on the school website if you need a copy.  The form is due by Friday, February 23, 2018.

    1.      Animal Fundraiser – All proceeds will go the Maryland SPCA.  Please see the attached flyer for details, including how you can get an out of uniform day.

    Reading:

    We will  finish unit 4: Lesson 17: “Nature All Around” in our reading series.  We will be reviewing the letter Gg, Mm, Pp. We will read “From Caterpillar to Butterfly” and “It is the Wind,”  in order to review our reading comprehension skills;  identify characters in a story, setting, details, conclusion, fantasy/reality and sequencing (beginning, middle, and end).  We will work on our book handling skills, name the front, back and spine of the book along with the title and author.  We will read from our student readers, “Can You Find It?,” and “Pam Pig.”(We will point to the words as we read)   We will review our 3 letter words. We will be working on identifying ending sounds especially things that end and begin with the letter Gg. We will review our rhyming skills.

    We will say our alphabet with the letter sounds.

    Math:

    We will start a unit in math; numbers to 100.  We will count by 1’s to 100. We will skip count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to 100. I will count a set of objects by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. We will use tally marks instead of numbers.

    Handwriting:

    We will write our first and last names Kindergarten style. We will practice writing our sight word; but, came, find, from, on, and this. We will practice writing our numbers 0-20.

    Religion:

    The children will recognize they grow and change. The children will recognize that loving choices help them grow more like Jesus. The children will appreciate what makes change happen and consider how they can make a difference.

    *We are collecting  baby items next month for the Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital as our service project this year. March will be batteries for the Hospital.

    Homework went home today! And a sight word list. Please make flash cards and review with your child every night. At this point in the reading series they add 6 new sight words each week.

    We completed our Unit 3 reading test today.

    We will  finish unit 4: Lesson 16: “Testing Ideas” in our reading series.  We will be reviewing the letter Ii. We will read “Dear Mr. Blueberry” in order to understand what a letter is.  We will also read “What is Science” and “Miss Bindergarten gets ready for the 100th day of Kindergarten” in order to review our reading comprehension skills;  identify characters in a story, setting, details, conclusion, fantasy/reality and sequencing (beginning, middle, and end).  We will work on our book handling skills, name the front, back and spine of the book along with the title and author.  We will read from our student readers, “What is it?,” and “Fit in my Cab.”(We will point to the words as we read)   We will review our 3 letter words. We will be working on identifying ending sounds.

    Reading:

    We will  finish unit 3: Lesson 15: “Up in the Sky” in our reading series.  We will be reviewing the letter Aa,Bb, Ff and Nn. We will read “How many stars in the sky?” and “What a Beautiful Sky!” and “What will the weather be like?” in order to review our reading comprehension skills;  identify characters in a story, setting, details, conclusion, fantasy/reality and sequencing (beginning, middle, and end).  We will work on our book handling skills, name the front, back and spine of the book along with the title and author.  We will read from our student readers, “Pam Cat,” and “Come with me.”(We will point to the words as we read) We will review our action verbs. We will look at a sentence and tell what is wrong with it and fix it. (Capital letter starts a sentence and always a period at the end) We will review our punctuation at the end of a sentence. We will review our 3 letter words; cap, cab, bat, man, map, fan, can pan, sat, and cat.

    We will say our alphabet with the letter sounds.

    We will read sentences and choose the best sight word for each missing spot.

    Our unit 3 test will be on Monday.

    Math:

    We will finish our unit in math; 2D and 3D Shapes. We will identify what 2-d shapes make up our 3D shapes (faces-surfaces) We will identify which 3D shapes can; roll, slide, and stack. Students will review the difference between 2-d are flat and 3-d are fat shapes. We will review our 3D shapes: cone, cylinder, sphere, cube, and rectangular prism.

    Handwriting:

    We will write our first and last names Kindergarten style. We will practice writing our sight word;I, like, the, can, and, see, we, a, to, come, me, my, with, you, what, are, and now. We will practice writing our numbers 0-19.

    Religion:

    The children will describe ways people care for them and ways they can care for others. The children will recognize that Jesus cares for those who are left out. The children will recognize that God wants them to take care of his Creation.

We will review our reading comprehension skills as we read this week in order to identify characters in a story, setting, details, conclusion, fantasy/reality and sequencing (beginning, middle, and end).  We will work on our book handling skills, name the front, back and spine of the book along with the title and author.  We will read from our student readers, “What Now,” and “At Bat.”(We will point to the words as we read) We will review our action verbs. We will  identify things that begin and end with the letter b. We will read, “Hidden Homes,” in order to build on our vocabulary; beneath, raise, survive, habitats, responsibility, pair, harm, and enter. We will complete a writing activity about Pete the Cat and his white sneakers.

We will finish writing the sentence, “What can you see? I can see a _______.” (with our sight words).  We will review our rhyming skills. We will sound out three letter words; fan, ma, fat, pan, cap and can. We will start to identify beginning and ending letters. We will review complete sentence.

    We will say our alphabet with the letter sounds.
