September 2014 PHSA Newsletter

On behalf of the PHSA, welcome back to the 2014-2015 school year!  As you transition from summer (so hard to believe it is that time already) back into school schedules, please keep in mind a few upcoming events:

Back-to-School Night Pre-K thru 4th grade (Thursday, Sept. 4)

Back-to-School Night 5th thru 8th grade (Thursday, Sept. 11)

Father’s Club Ice Cream Social (Friday, Sept. 12)

First “Special Lunch” –  (Welcome Back, Tuesday, Sept. 23)

Individual School Pictures – (Wednesday, Sept. 24)

Dollar Day (Thursday, Sept. 25)

Professional Day, Early Dismissal and Teacher Luncheon (Thursday, Sept. 25)

Back-to-School Nights are a great opportunity to “meet and greet” your child’s new teacher(s).  The night begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium with a brief meeting from Mr. D’Adamo.  PHSA representatives are also introduced and on-hand to answer questions regarding upcoming events.

Special Lunch – Our first “Special Lunch” of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd with a “Welcome Back” theme.  A flyer will be sent home for you to order and prepay for this lunch.  The chairpersons for the special lunches will be  listed on the flyer and will be in need of volunteers.

Individual School Pictures – Individual School Pictures are taken in school uniform and are scheduled for Wednesday, September 24.  More information will follow shortly.

Dollar Days are back by popular demand!  Our first of eight out-of-uniform days of the year is scheduled for Thursday, September 25th.  A flyer will be sent home the first week of school.  Flyers should be filled out and returned with the money ($1 for each date, per child) so that your child is added to the list of students that are prepaid and able to be out-of-uniform!

Also back by popular demand (from our teachers) are the teacher lunches.  These luncheons were made possible by all of the donations from parents for our Teacher Appreciation Gifts.  Our second luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, September 25th.  The first luncheon was on Tuesday, August 19th and was very much appreciated by all teachers and staff.

If you are looking for a way to get involved with school but just aren’t quite sure how, please contact one of the PHSA grade representatives or PHSA board members listed on the PHSA website.  We are always looking for new volunteers to help!

Thank you and may all of you have a great school year!
