Service Outreach
Compassion and consideration for others, especially those less fortunate, are values embraced by all students at St. Ursula School and implemented in every grade as part of an SUS education. Students, parents, faculty and staff work together throughout the year to make a difference in the lives of those in need, both locally and globally.
Pre-K
Students in the Pre-K program work closely with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore; an organization that provides a home away from home for seriously ill children and their families, while they receive treatment. Our Pre- K students collect unopened happy meal toys to donate to the Ronald McDonald House, to help bring cheer and lift the spirits of the children undergoing treatment.
Kindergarten and First Grade
Students in Kindergarten and first grade collect baby clothes and toys for Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital; an organization that provides specialty health care for children.
Second Grade
Our second grade students continue to help the hungry, by making sandwiches to donate to Beans & Bread, a day resource center for people who are homeless.
Third and Fourth Grade
Students in third and fourth grade work with St. Rita’s Kitchen, which provides hot meals, care packages, and canned food to those in need. The students make decorations and bring in food supplies throughout the year.
Fifth Grade
The fifth grade works closely with My Sister’s Place Women’s Center in Baltimore. My Sister’s Place provides job training assistance, education, case management and meals to women in Baltimore City. Students make bracelets and bows to sell to raise money, as well as collect canned food items for this organization.
Sixth Grade
Students in the sixth grade work with My Sister’s Lodge, a group home for formerly homeless women of Baltimore City who have been diagnosed with mental illness. Sixth graders collect toiletries and other personal care items. They also work with the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Martin’s; which helps the needy elderly of Baltimore.
Seventh Grade
Seventh Grade students work together to make homemade casseroles for Our Daily Bread; Maryland’s hot meal program, which serves more than a quarter million meals to the hungry of Baltimore City each year.
Eighth Grade
Eighth grade Students work with the Baltimore Pregnancy Center, a pro-life nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women and children in need. Our students collect clothes, diapers, formula, and other baby and children items, as well as volunteer at the center.
